High bay lights can be divided into general lighting and local lighting according to their bright functions.

general lighting

Generally, the lighting lamps are usually arranged evenly on the top or side walls of the work site to illuminate the entire work surface. It is necessary to use high-power white lamps, high-intensity gas discharge lamps or a large number of fluorescent lamps. Of course, there are more energy-saving and high-power lamps. LED high bay lights, etc., most of the high bay lights belong to this category. General lighting has higher requirements on the distribution of light, and it is best to use two types of light distribution, direct lighting and semi-direct lighting, especially the latter. Part of the semi-direct lighting type illuminates the ceiling with upward light, which can increase the brightness of the ceiling and create a more comfortable and brighter environment.

local lighting

Local lighting is a kind of lamps that improve the illuminance of a certain working part. Its function can be to strengthen and supplement lighting on the basis of general lighting, or it can be used as temporary lighting in some places that do not need lighting at ordinary times (such as equipment maintenance and maintenance places). There are mostly no strict regulations on their light distribution. Local lighting lamps are usually installed near the work area, using incandescent lamps and tungsten halogen lamps with safety extra-low voltage (≤50V, AC RMS) as the light source. There are (portable) running lights, hanging lights, work desk lights, machine tool work lights, etc. In some tall workshops, spot lights are sometimes used for local lighting.

Requirements

In order to meet the visual needs of different production operations and the needs of lighting installation conditions, the reflector of the high bay light should be able to produce light distributions of various widths and degrees. The surface is painted, glazed to make it appear white, and the reflector made of aluminum, glass mirror, prism glass and other materials can obtain a wide light distribution, suitable for large areas, vertical or near-vertical workplaces . For tall workshops and places with tall machine tools that require separate lighting, reflectors made of materials with strong light control properties such as prism glass, mirror glass and polished aluminum can be used to obtain narrow beam distribution. In order to work reliably for a long time in places with poor environmental conditions such as dusty and humid, the industrial and mining lamps have special requirements in terms of structural design, shell and reflector. In dusty environments, closed lamps or convection lamps with upward luminous flux should be used (see picture); in humid environments, attention should be paid to the airtightness of the casing and the surface treatment of the reflector; generally, open lamps are commonly used in indoor environments, and enamel surface reflection is adopted. The aluminum reflector with thick aluminum oxide film layer on the surface or coated with silicon dioxide protective film; considering the inevitable vibration in the production site, the fixed light source should use the anti-loosening lamp holder, etc. There are many ways to fix high bay lights. General lighting has the form of ceiling, embedded, hoisting (using straight pipe or chain) and suction wall. Movable local lights are equipped with corresponding hooks, handles, clip feet, etc.; fixed local lights are generally firmly locked on the working machine with screws or fixing mechanisms.
