Do LED lights save electricity? After talking about LEDs, let's talk about the design of lamps. Design flaws in lamps can affect the brightness of lamps. To get a brighter light, we have to replace a brighter illuminator, which will consume more power. To put it bluntly, it is "a design error that wastes the light emitted by the lamps and reduces the efficiency of the lamps".
What kind of design reduces the efficiency of a luminaire? There are three most common types:
1. Crystal lamp
People who do decoration will not suggest that you choose crystal lamps. Their reasoning is "not easy to clean and dirty". Today I want to give you another reason: it is not good for light propagation. The luminous body of the crystal lamp is wrapped in crystal beads, and the light needs to pass through the crystal beads to enter the room. In this way, two problems arise. First of all, it will affect the propagation distance of light and reduce indoor brightness. The second is that the light will be refracted after passing through the crystal beads, resulting in light spots in the room.
2. Upside-down lights
The place where the bulb is installed is called the "lamp socket". Most of the light openings are facing down, but some are upside down. If you think of a light bulb as a light-emitting point, the light it emits tends to be opposite to the direction of the socket. For this reason, we can see that the top of the bulb is often flat or pointed, and the end near the socket is often not A glowing cylinder, thereby focusing the light forward.
If it is a ceiling light, the light from the light will shine on the ceiling. The light in our room bounced off the ceiling. Reflection inevitably involves loss of light, resulting in reduced brightness. Some lamps even have a lampshade installed under the lamp socket that has a greater impact on the light.
3. Glass mask lamp
There are many lamps, and a mask will be placed on the luminous body. This design is understandable. After all, the lamps themselves also need some decoration. But the material of the mask is quite special. The common material is acrylic material, but it is almost normal plastic. While both materials feel loose, they barely affect the light transmission. Even if it is colored or frosted, the light will pass through smoothly.
