LED connection architecture

When designing and selecting LED modules, it is necessary to consider some requirements related to constant current modules and others.

1. The number of LEDs connected in series should be less than 10, as there is a safety requirement for LED lighting fixtures. According to the European Union IEC 61347-2-13 (5/2006) standard, for LED modules powered by DC or AC, it is required that the voltage in the LED lamp should not exceed the maximum safe ultra-low voltage (SELV), which means that its working output voltage is ≤ 25 Vrms (35.3 Vdc), so the total number of LEDs connected in series should not exceed 10.

As street lights, LED modules are usually used for easy repair and replacement. Each module is usually designed as a long square, and a constant current module is also designed within it. It is recommended that the power of each module be less than 30W. In this way, around 100W street lights use 3-4 LED modules, while 150W LED street lights use 5-6 LED modules. For higher power, 7-8 modules can be used.

3. In each LED module, 1W LED is usually used, and its connection method is series parallel connection. If the LED has a protective diode, it can be connected in series first and then connected in series. If there is no protective diode, it should be connected in series first and then connected in series to avoid damaging one string and not illuminating the other.

4. To further understand the performance and characteristics of the constant current module, it is necessary to use a few strings and several parallels.
