What is the reason for the flickering of road lights

Time:2023-12-18 Views:781

When walking on the road at night, sometimes you may find street lights flickering on the road. Usually, the human eye can perceive light flickering at a frequency of 70 Hz. If it is below 70 Hz, the human eye will feel flickering. Flashing of street lights not only stimulates the eyes, but also affects the lighting effect. This is usually LED street lights, and the reasons for LED street light flickering may be as follows:

1. Driver power supply issue

The driving power supply for LED street lights generally adopts a constant current power supply. The basic working mode of a constant current power supply is to continuously adjust the output voltage to ensure that the current remains constant when the internal resistance of the LED beads changes. However, this adjustment has a certain limit. In addition to having an output voltage range, a constant current power supply will enter a protection state once it exceeds the limit, and its manifestation is that the light starts to flash.

2. LED bead issue

The mismatch between LED beads and LED driver power can also cause flickering. Normally, a single 1W bead can withstand a current of 80-300mA and a voltage of 3.0-3.4V. If the bead chip is not of sufficient power, it will cause flickering of the light source. If the current is too high and the bead cannot withstand it, it will turn on and off.

3. The lighting fixtures are broken

The occurrence of flicker in outdoor lighting fixtures may be due to inadequate waterproofing, resulting in water ingress. Damage to one of the lamp beads and driver power supply can cause flicker and require timely repair.
